One of key thing on Liz’s Austin to-do list was to visit some of the Instagram worthy murals. Rex, as the cooperative boyfriend, was willing to cooperate. Being a very creative city, Austin showcases a lot of street art. Most of the murals aren’t that artistic and there’s way more impressive of works of art that don’t get their shine. However, most people are pretty basic and rather take a picture in front of some lovey-dovey or pseudo inspiration sayings. With a short trip, Liz prioritized only few murals and we were able to get to all of them.
“You’re My Butter Half”
The “You’re My Butter Half” mural lays two miles outside Downtown Austin. It was painted in 2012 by marketing agency Mighty Citizen for the United Way non profit organization, which occupies the business complex. A makeshift phone docking station can be found in front of the mural, allowing you to snap photos if you’re by yourself or with your boo.

“I Love You So Much”
In 2010, a local musician named Amy Cook wrote this short love message to her partner, Liz Lambert, who owns the wall to the business where the “I Love You So Much” mural is found.

“I Love You Austin”
We don’t think there’s much of a backstory to this one. We saw it walking down Congress Ave after visiting the “I Love You So Much” piece. It’s on the side of the Kendra Scott Flagship store and was probably created to bring in foot traffic to the jewelry boutique.

“Greetings From Austin”
Resembling a vintage postcard, the “Greeting From Austin” can serve as your digital one to friends. It was painted in 1998 by Todd Sanders, who owns Roadhouse Relics, the neon sign business on which the mural is painted.
