Last September, legendary street artist Futura painted on the historic Bowery Graffiti Wall in New York City. The mural is located on the corner of Houston Street and the Bowery in Manhattan, and has featured limited run pieces from some of the most recognized street artists, including  OSGEMEOS, Shepard Fairey, RETNA. Born and bred in New York, Futura started painting on subway cars back in the 70s and has risen to become one of the most influential graffiti artists ever, with galleries all over the world and collaborations with major brands like Nike and Hennessy. As a local, Futura felt extremely honored to paint the Bowery Graffiti Wall and fortunately, WATCHxWITNESS was there to document it on video.

WATCHxWITNESS is a photography duo consisting of Jason Goldwatch and 13th WitnessStarting out as a friendly competition, WATCHxWITNESS has evolved into a photographic series on film. Half wander lusting, half investigative journalism, they aim to expose new views on culture and environments all over the world through their lenses. From trips to Detroit and Death Valley, to brand work for Jordan and Heineken, their mantra remains the same, “Explore Everything.”

WATCHxWITNESS recorded Futura as he painted the Bowery Wall throughout the day. 13th Witness is actually Futura’s son, so it must have been really cool to capture his dad at work. The short videoshows the artist as a very friendly and welcoming person, engaging with curious bystanders and even autographing random objects. You can watch WATCHxWITNESS’s video below.
