OSGEMEOS take their street art digital as they takeover Times Square every night for 3 minutes during the month of August with their installation “Parallel Connection”

Famed Brazilian artist duo OSGEMEOS (“twins” in Portuguese) are some of the most recognized street artists in the world. OSGEMEOS’ signature yellow skinned characters can be seen plastered on walls across urban landscapes around the globe, and starting this August, they bring their art to a more digital channels. Titled “Parallel Connection”, OSGEMEOS’s newest project takes over Times Square’s electronic billboards from 11:57PM to midnight every night August.

Through the depiction of these OSGEMEOS’ iconic characters, “Parallel Connection” breaks the barriers between imagination and reality. The brothers, Gustavo and Otavio Pandolfo, wanted to connect with the joyful and creative aspects that they feel every individual has inside of themselves and can visualize through dreams. To them, the dream world is the one place where every person in the universe can be connected if they can just break the barriers between imagination and the physical world.

This was intriguing enough for me to brave the chaotic mess which is Times Square to check out  “Parallel Connection”. Like most New York City residence, I make a conscious effort to avoid the annoying hub of over-the-top ads selfie sticks, but for three minutes was decent. Go check out “Parallel Connection” this month. I recommend going on a weeknight where Times Square isn’t disgustingly crowded.
