Iconic headwear company and purveyor of the fitted baseball cap New Era has teamed up with music/culture publication The FADER to produce a music showcase for rising talent. Called the Night Cap Sessions, the events take place in different venues around New York City where attendees can watch intimate performances from burgeoning artists. On Wednesday, January 20th, New Era and The FADER are presenting its latest Night Capped Session featuring Jay IDK.
Hailing from PG County, Maryland, Jay IDK is a 23 year old rapper who has found his lane by mixing consciousness with ignorance (the IDK in his moniker stands for “Ignorantly Delivering Knowledge”). He released his debut album Sex, Drugs & Homework in 2014 to minimal buzz, but has hustled relentlessly build his brand. Jay IDK brings a strong sense of storytelling and substance with his music, which garnered him comparisons to a Section.80 Kendrick Lamar. He released his sophomore album SubTRAP last July, which has got him some radio airplay and features in music publications. Jay IDK’s ultimate career goals are to deliver real change and be remembered as one of the most successful socially aware artist.
