The lovely Jhené Aiko recently dropped her second solo album Trip unexpectedly on September 22nd to the delight of her fans. The project is great body of work which showcases Aiko’s songwriting talent to portray deep personal stories through song. The themes on Trip are autobiographical, touching on the singer/songwriter’s journey in coping with the passing of her brother. Aiko takes on a character named Penny and as the album title alludes, most of the album’s narrative focuses on Penny soul search with the help of “extracurricular favors”.
To accompany the album, Jhené also released a short film she produced, also title Trip. It provides touching visuals to the narrative of the album, as Penny seeks solace in a random stranger she meets while trying to find the words to express her feelings. Watch the short film below and be sure to check out Trip.
