In the premiere episode of a new web series ‘Blueprint,’ Complex’s Editor-In-Chief Noah Callahan-Bever sits down with legendary music exec Jimmy Iovine to discuss his impressive career. Starting out as a teenager cleaning up music studios in New York City, Iovine ultimately rose to be one of the most successful individuals in music.

Sometimes the best career advice is from those who lived it, and Iovine has experienced a lifetime. He offers a number of valuable points that provide motivation, especially those in the music industry. Iovine also provides some perspective on the changing state of the business, as things shift to heavy reliance on streaming. He caps off the interview with some great words on harnessing your fear and translating it to a drive to be successful.

He and Dr. Dre recently teamed up with HBO to produce the docu-series “Defiant Ones” which is currently out.
